Behold; a sampling of my site management, video, photo, and social media magic!

SITE MANAGEMENT
I was the founding editor of Noisecreep for AOL Music, and I founded Buzzgrinder way back in 2001.

With Noisecreep I managed a staff (and budget) of 10+ writers, coordinated photo coverage with our photo department, developed features, planned editorial coverage around tours and album releases, and maintained a steady flow of content to the site.

Some of my proudest moments are this video, photo shoot, and interview with Bring Me the Horizon and this photo shoot and story with Death By Stereo. I also coordinated and did some of these video interviews at Mayhem Festival in California: one, two, and three.

I also developed, managed, and was the primary booker for our ‘Creep Show video show, which included guests like Avenged Sevenfold, Black Label Society, The Deftones, Hellyeah and many more.

With Buzzgrinder, I managed a small staff of volunteer writers, wrote a billion blog posts, managed contests by working with labels and publicity groups, did a video series called Scene Points (final episode below), and somehow managed to not sell my site when approached for acquisition back in 2008. My proudest accomplishment, though, is seeing my right-hand-man Sean Cannon go on to host WFPK’s After Dark in Louisville, KY.

I founded and managed The Conduit; which aimed at “cutting through the online static to bring you a weekly email digest of the finest metal and noise.” This was a self-started project with one of my writer friends, working again with labels and publicity groups to send out a slick-looking email newsletter every friday afternoon.

I worked at Field and Stream Magazine in 2007, and though I didn’t manage the site, I was still the guy moving content from the magazine to the web, hand-coding HTML email newsletters, and photoshopping the blood out of photos sent in by readers posing with dead deer. Yes, it’s as glamourous as it sounds.

VIDEO
These were made on my iPhone, a Canon s95 digital camera, and edited in iMovie on my MacBook.

PHOTO
I’ve compiled a sizable amount of my own photo content for my Bike Nerd blog, such as, ‘Travel By Bus,’ ‘Portland Maine to New York City by Bike, Bus and Train,’ and ‘Queens, New York – Flushing Meadow Park.’

SOCIAL MEDIA
In my time with AOL Music I grew the Noisecreep Twitter account to 5,000 followers. I’ve also been an active social media user myself, using Twitter since 2006 (I’m user #2,873, @sethw), grew my Bike Nerd Tumblr to over 600 followers, and nearing 300 followers on Instagram (username: sethwismyname). I also did blogger outreach in my time at AOL back in 2006.
